The iconic Blue Flag Award marks those beaches with exceptional water quality, safety and environmental management. A total of 10 Pembrokeshire beaches have been awarded a Blue Flag from Keep Wales Tidy.
The following beaches showcase the dedication and commitment of Pembrokeshire, ensuring that all visitors can enjoy a clean, safe and exceptional seaside experience. Here are all of the current Blue Flag beaches in Pembrokeshire.
Amroth Beach
Amroth Beach is a great sandy beach, backed by a charming coastal village where time seems to have stood still. Stretching the whole length of the village, it has an extremely low tide from which you can still see the Petrified Forest, destroyed when sea levels rose 7000 years ago. Fossilised antlers, nuts, animal remains and Neolithic flints have all been discovered here over the years.
Amroth also marks the start of the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, one of Britain’s 17 long-distance national trails. You’ll find a paid car park located just behind the shops in the village. There are also some spaces along the sea wall including some disabled spaces near the toilet and baby changing facilities at the west end of the beach.

Amroth Beach, Wales
Newgale Beach
Set in the centre of the curved West Pembrokeshire coastline overlooking the stunning St Brides Bay, Newgale Beach is one of Pembrokeshire’s largest and most popular beaches. The 2-mile-wide beach of golden sand is backed by a high pebble bank. There are three main car parks, all of which are Pay and Display throughout the summer months. There are also two sets of public toilets along this stretch of the coast, including disabled facilities.
Newgale is a favourite amongst surfers for its consistent tide and safe surroundings. Newsurf roadside shop offers surf tuition and refresher training along with board and wetsuit hire. There’s also a beachside pub which is a great place to watch the sunset.

Saundersfoot Beach
Set on the south of the Pembrokeshire coastline between the popular beachside resort of Tenby and the shoreline village of Amroth, you will find the wonderful seaside village of Saundersfoot, complete with a wide beach of beautiful golden sands. This is a great place for rock pooling or sea fishing from the shoreline. You can also enjoy a coastline walk and some traditional fish and chips. A favourite walk for visitors is along the old coal tramway and through the tunnels to Wiseman’s Bridge.
There are two main car parks within the village. The first is located on the harbour with public toilets, and you can even hire an all-terrain beach wheelchair. The second car park is alongside the Regency Hall, where there are also public toilets (charges apply).

Dale Beach
Situated on the northern coastline of the Milford Haven Waterway, Dale Beach is a mostly shingle beach with a hive of watersports, boat trips and shore-based pastimes available all year round. This wide, sheltered beach is backed by a quaint seaside village jam-packed with amenities, and the micro-climate ensures warm sunny temperatures like no other.
There’s a Pay and Display car park within a short walk of the water, with disabled parking along the beachfront. There is also a post office, public toilets and a bus stop here. You can book watersports lessons and hire watersports equipment, including wetsuits and surfboards, from Celtic Sea Watersports.

Dale, West Wales
Whitesands Beach
Travel 2 miles west of St Davids, the UK’s smallest city, and you will find a stunning expanse of pure white sand with a spectacular craggy mountain of Carn Llidi towering high overhead. The wide expanse of fine white sand curves towards the remote rocky headland of St Davids Head. It’s highly regarded as one of the best surfing beaches in the country, making it very popular.
On busy days, there are canoeists, surfers and bodyboarders competing for the best waves. There is a car park accommodating some 60 or so cars. This is paid for in high season and only has an option for day parking. To avoid the hassle of finding a parking space, you can jump on the Celtic Coaster shuttle bus, which operates in the local area. With public toilets, a cafe and summer lifeguard patrols, Whitesands is well-equipped for all manner of seaside experiences and activities.

Coppet Hall Beach
Coppet Hall Beach is a small pretty bay with soft sand even at high tide. This dog-friendly beach is located at the eastern side of Saundersfoot Beach, separated by a stream running onto the sands on the western side at the high tide. At low tide, a large expanse of beach is revealed making it ideal for beach games.
There is a large paid car park, a cafe, a gift shop and free toilets including disabled facilities. There’s also a paddleboard school here where you can hire paddleboards for a day on the water. The location is also shared by the award-winning Coast Restaurant which serves quality food with stunning sea views.

Coppet Hall Beach, West Wales
Tenby South Beach
Tenby South Beach is a 2-mile stretch of soft sands where you can enjoy long walks and runs, or an evening barbeque. Backed by dunes, the bay reaches as far as Penally in the west and at low tide, it joins onto Tenby Castle Beach in the east.
There is a car park with toilet facilities just behind the beach and a further car park at the top of the cliff with additional spaces. During the summer months, there are facilities for the hire of deckchairs and sunbeds making it a great place to spend the whole day relaxing and sunbathing on the beach.

Tenby Castle Beach
Tenby Castle Beach is one of four beautiful beaches in the seaside resort of Tenby. It is situated on the south side of the cobblestoned town between East Cliff and Castle Hill and is a fantastic beach ideal for family days out. The beach is secluded and sandy and acts as a launching point for trips to Caldey Island when the harbour is dry. When the tide is low, you can go onto St Catherine’s Island to explore.
There is no parking at Castle Beach meaning you will need to park in one of the main car parks in the town. Facilities can be found via the wide concrete slipway used to access the beach. Here, you’ll find public toilets and showers and a small beach cafe. During the summer months, deckchairs, windbreakers and parasols are available for rental.

Poppit Sands
Poppit Sands is located on the most northerly point of Pembrokeshire, just 2 miles from St Dogmaels which marks the start of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Facing north, you’ll find the sandy bay at Poppit Sands at the mouth of the River Teifi, just across the river from Gwbert and downstream from the historical county town of Ceredigion, Cardigan.
Poppit Sands is ideal for beach games, kite flying and even gentle surfing when the tide is right. There’s a large car park just a stone’s throw from the beach which is free during winter, but come the summer months, there is a small charge. Within the car park, you will find public toilets, a cafe and a beach shop.

Broad Haven Beach
Not to be confused with Broadhaven South near Bosherston, Broad Haven Beach is a popular bay of golden sands backed by a quaint coastal village. Set on the west coast of Pembrokeshire sandwiched between Little Haven and Druidston, this beach is in a wonderful valley location overlooking St Brides Bay.
Broad Haven makes for a great day out with the family, with its sandy bay, rock pools, and beautiful blue waters, making sure there’s lots of fun to be had for all. There are two car parks to choose from with public toilets in both including disabled facilities. You can also hire a beach wheelchair during the summer months from Haven Sports. There’s a local shop, cafe, chip shop and award-winning burgers to choose from for a bite to eat.
