Gavin, who has fished commercially for the last 20 years, has had his own commercial boat in Saundersfoot for the last 8 years and has been supplying his seafood hauls to restaurants. Until the pandemic took place and he was forced to create a plan B that is.
As a result, seafood lovers can now purchase their fresh produce straight from the fisherman! Freshest Catch, a new venture, offers you the chance now to hand-pick your produce at one of their weekly pop-up markets - locations of which have included Wisemans Bridge, Lawrenny, Whitland, Pembroke and Broadmoor. Alternatively, you can message them via their facebook page to arrange a pre-order which you can then collect at one of these pop-up markets or ask them about their delivery service.
The Fish Plaice, Milford Haven
With one of the world’s deepest natural harbours, it’s no surprise Milford Haven serves some of freshest seafood around. Welsh Seafood located on Milford Haven docks focuses on supplying fresh local fish to restaurants around Pembrokeshire. However, they also have their own small shop selling fresh locally caught fish to customers – The Fish Plaice. They serve an array of seafood from crab, prawns and a variety of local fish.

Head to the Traditional Thursday Market in Fishguard Town Hall and stop by Phil Rees' market stall for locally caught fresh fish and shellfish, with offerings varying depending on the season. This fishmonger is a favourite amongst locals in the area and has over 30 years experience selling his seafood here.

Albatross Fisheries, Narberth
In the boutique town of Narberth, you'll find Albatross Fisheries offering a great range of sustainable fresh seafood all sourced within the UK. Whilst produce varies depending on availability throughout the year, you can expect sea bass between March and October, along with other delicious choices such as mackerel, tuna, salmon and more throughout the year.
