Large Properties for Celebrations

Waterwynch House, Tenby

For a guaranteed unique experience and an amazing holiday, Waterwynch House is the perfect choice. This fabulous 12-bedroom holiday home is set right on the beach, nestled between the cliffs of Waterwynch Bay with unparalleled sea views out to Carmarthen Bay.

Perfect as an exclusive venue for friends to reunite or for a special family celebration; this historic property has been fully restored to offer luxury private accommodation surrounded by 10 acres of lawns and woodland.

To end the year with a bang, head to Tudor Square in the picturesque harbour town of Tenby where you’ll be greeted with large crowds gathering to celebrate the countdown and a spectacular fireworks display.

If you’d rather stay in with the family, New Year's Eve is made extra special at Waterwynch House. Start the night around the fire pit on the beach as you eat a delicious meal together prepared in one of the 2 kitchens. With full bellies, you can gaze up at the stars overhead with a glass of bubbly in hand as you wait for the fireworks in Tenby to go off at midnight just across the water while listening to the waves gently breaking on the beach.

Waterwynch House is the place to be to welcome the New Year with style and luxury. On New Year’s Day, you can even enjoy a morning coffee from one of the 4 bedroom balconies as you marvel at the breathtaking views out to sea.

Hoopers Cottage, near St Brides Beach

If you’re looking to escape the crowds and have a peaceful start to 2024, then we suggest a mindful New Year celebration at Orlandon Farm Cottages. These are four charming period properties set on their own pretty hamlet green surrounded by farmland and stunning views. Hoopers Cottage is a beautiful, detached stone cottage that has marvellous views across Dale Bay.

Hoopers Cottage in Orlandon

Start your New Year’s resolutions early and make the decision to ditch the tedious traditions and head to Hoopers Cottage for a more wholesome commemoration. This New Year can be about fresh air, friends and finding some peace in stunning Orlandon.

Don’t wait until January 1st to become more active. Rather than standing outside the local pub battling crowds to get in before the last call, wrap up warm, put on your hiking boots and choose from the many scenic routes this stunning area of West Wales has to offer. Spend your days on the nearly deserted beach of Marloes Sands which is only about 4 miles away or head to the sheltered cove of St Brides, only a mile away.

Head back to the open fire in Hoopers Cottage to warm yourself up or dine in style in the large kitchen/diner, perfect for socialising and spending quality time together.

Ty Lwcus, Penally

Ty Lwcus is our recommended New Year stay for a large family hoping to bring along the dog. This super spacious holiday home is set in a fantastic position in Penally close to Tenby. The elevated position of Ty Lwcus ensures the most stunning views over the dunes to the sea, Caldey Island and Carmarthen Bay.

Ty Lwcus in Penally

For New Year’s Eve celebrations, you can take a short drive to Tenby to enjoy the fireworks from Tenby House in the town centre. Here there will be crowds of people celebrating the New Year. For a quieter celebration, the wood-burning stove will keep the home cosy for a countdown party with the family.

Start your year with a surf at Tenby South Beach, just a 10-minute downhill walk away. This stretch of golden sand, connected to Penally Beach, is not only popular with water sport enthusiasts but is dog friendly all year round making it the perfect spot to tire out the pooch. The best part is you can head back to Ty Lwcus to warm yourself up in the sauna cabin found in the rear garden.

Romantic New Year Breaks

Parker’s Folly, near St Davids

Parker’s Folly is a charming holiday pod which boasts a secluded location only 100 metres from the Wales Coast Path, as well as breathtaking views out to St Brides Bay.

Naturally, you’ll spend most days heading out to explore the coastline; Caer Bwdi Beach is easily accessible via the Path and is the closest bay to the pod. Lace up the boots and head west for days out at Caerfai before continuing to St Nons, Porthclais and St Justinians for epic views. The opposite direction will lead you to Solva and onto Newgale via the lesser-travelled coves of Nine Wells and Porthmynawyd.

Parker's Folly near St Davids

If lungs full of sea air and the sound of crashing waves haven’t got you into a total state of New Year celebration bliss, then why not give the latest lifestyle trend a go? Cold-water swimming has become increasingly popular, which is why the local Penknife Club raises money for charity by organising a large community swim on Whitesands Beach, only a 15-minute drive from Parker’s Folly. Make sure you have plenty of warm clothes for when you get out of the sea, as you don’t want to start 2024 with pneumonia!

The Sail Loft, Saundersfoot

The Sail Loft is a newly renovated sleep-two complex situated on the cliffs above Saundersfoot Beach. A 5-minute downhill stroll will take you directly into the heart of the pretty seaside village with its picturesque harbour, golden stretches of sand and bustling restaurants, pubs and shops.

The Sail Loft in Saundersfoot

Saundersfoot is a fabulous place to celebrate the new year in style. There’s a fantastic fireworks display at midnight from the harbour point with fewer crowds compared to the likes of Tenby. What’s best is to come because at 12pm the next day, the New Year’s Day Swim takes place. This popular event attracts hundreds of spectators to the village all trying to get a good view from the harbour. Staying at The Sail Loft means you can stroll down to the harbour in your fancy dress to join in with the many others braving the cold waters. Alternatively, you can watch the swim from the small outdoor seating area to the front of The Sail Loft which boasts spectacular views across the breathtaking bay and beyond.

Lower Coach House, Fishguard

Escape to your own private sanctuary with a New Year's break at Lower Coach House, a contemporary self-contained apartment located on the slopes of the wooded valley of Fishguard. This characterful stone building stands in an elevated position overlooking Fishguard Harbour with wonderful views.

Lower Coach House in Fishguard

Hidden down a narrow side street, Lower Coach House is conveniently set within 150 metres of the town square. It’s the perfect holiday base to enjoy Pembrokeshire’s most famous New Year’s Eve street party. This party spreads through the whole town. Expect a stage with local bands playing music all night, stalls selling delicious food along the streets and of course, pubs to warm the masses. Midnight will see a fantastic fireworks display to celebrate the beginning of 2024. Wristbands for the event are £5, all proceeds go back into the event prep for the next year. This gives you a reason to keep returning to Lower Coach House to celebrate New Year together.

To start your New Year right, there is direct access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path ideal for a brisk morning walk with the dog.
