You’ll be spoilt for choice with Blue Flag beaches like Whitesands, Broad Haven and Tenby’s four beaches, which are all perfect for family holidays due to the convenient facilities. There is also a wide selection of quieter beaches such as Traeth Llyfn, Musselwick and Wisemans Bridge, which are dog-friendly all year long. (Read about the very few dog restrictions on beaches in Pembrokeshire).

When searching for places to visit in Pembrokeshire with the family, you’ll likely find Folly Farm, Heatherton and Manor Wildlife Park listed as recommendations. These terrific attractions are easily some of the best things to do in West Wales in 2025 (and every other year, in fact).

A Tenby holiday or a stay in the nearby surroundings of South Pembrokeshire places you well for enjoying family days out at these attraction parks, with several only a short drive away from the seaside resort. Folly Farm and Manor Wildlife Park offer chances to see selections of exotic animals while Heatherton and The Dinosaur Park offer activities your kids will enjoy for hours.

There’s also Tenby Deer Park, Carew Castle, Pembroke Castle, Castell Henllys and the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Pembrokeshire that you might like to visit during your stay.

Delicious Food

Pembrokeshire is the perfect place to tour the streets of quaint delicatessens and hidden farm shops in the countryside. Enjoy a picnic with a spectacular view on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path or enjoy a drink at any one of the local breweries and gin distilleries.

For breakfast, head to The Mill Cafe in St Davids which serves a traditional Welsh breakfast complete with cockles and larver bread, or make your way to Blas at Fronlas in Newport. For food on the go, try one of Romy's delicious freshly-made sweet or savoury crepes alongside sweet cakes and hot coffees. If you’re a veggie, we recommend Runawayskiln by Marloes Sands, which is nestled on the edge of Pembrokeshire and serves vibrant, freshly prepared food and drink or PlumVanilla Cafe in the heart of Narberth.

Of course, you can’t holiday in Pembrokeshire and not try out the seaside staple fish and chips, so we recommend The Shed Fish & Chips Bistro in Porthgain, which is well-known for its local fresh fish and shellfish or Feccis in Tenby - an absolute must.

Lokky’s near Saundersfoot stormed the local foodie scene with its Pan-Asian menu as did The Stone Crab when it opened in Saundersfoot offering a fresh seafood menu. For pub grub, head to the award-winning The Stackpole Inn or The Castle in Little Haven.
