Wisemans Bridge Beach is a small inlet nestled between the villages of Saundersfoot and Amroth. It has a wide expanse of beach with some pebbly spots in places and is backed by boulders and the sea wall. The coastal road runs along the beachside with the small hamlet of Wisemans Bridge behind the seafront.
This bay offers beautiful views out over Saundersfoot Bay towards Monkstone Point, and is very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. The parking is beachside making it convenient for families. It is also accessible by foot from Saundersfoot (approximately 1 mile) via a flat walkway through two tunnels.
Wisemans Bridge Beach is ideal for leisurely sea activities such as swimming and bodyboarding. Paddleboarders and kayakers enjoy exploring the bay and venturing around towards Coppet Hall Beach or Saundersfoot Beach, particularly when the sea is calm. The large sandy shoreline means that there is plenty of space for ball games at low tide. Rock pooling is a favourite family pastime here, either end of the beach are the best places to head for these wildlife-filled pools as here is where you will find the rockier areas.
Take the pathway along the former tramway (opposite the toilets) to reach Coppet Hall Beach on foot for a change of scenery. This area has a history of coal mining and the flat path runs along the base of the cliff through two tunnels, a recommended spot for a stroll all year round. You'll find many walkers and cyclists making the most of this level footpath. Alternatively, you can head onto the coast path at either end of the beach and venture to Saundersfoot and Tenby in the west or to Pendine Sands and Laugharne further east.
From the bridge, you can also explore the pathway which leads alongside the river taking you on a woodland walk in a quiet valley to the old Ironworks at Stepaside, approximately 1 mile. There is a large free public car park here.
This beach is ideal for families as parking is close to the beach, as is the pub if you would prefer a pub lunch instead of a picnic.
Parking is in free spaces along the roadside, some extend on the pebbly verge. At the southern end, there is a stream called Fords Lake running under the bridge.
Toilet facilities are located near the bridge including disabled facilities. At the other end of the hamlet, there is a small shop in a caravan park and a very popular pub, The Wisemans Bridge Inn. The pub's beer garden overlooks the beach with plenty of outdoor seating and is a perfect spot for lunch or a meal on a summers evening, with stunning views out over the bay.
The Wisemans Bridge Inn is very popular on summer evenings due to the outside seating with stunning views over the beach and Saundersfoot Bay. Parking is limited along the beachside but if full, you can park at Coppet Hall Beach nearby and take the walkway through the tunnels, approximately ½ a mile.
The beach is accessed via a steep slipway or across the pebbles where care is needed is.
Dogs are allowed on the beach all year.
