There’s something extra delicious about eating food which was grown on your doorstep. The quality is often higher than anything you can find in a supermarket and naturally, it is extremely fresh as it hasn’t travelled halfway around the country before reaching your plate. Below we share where to shop for fantastic Pembrokeshire local produce which will ultimately result in scrumptious meals. 

Many of Pembrokeshire’s rural high streets are home to a butcher or two and wherever you are, you’re never too far from a remote farm shop. Local produce has never been so available; try some of our staff favourite butchers who offer local produce and are happy to talk you through the provenance. Jon James Butchers and Prendergast Butchers in Haverfordwest, The Copper Hog in Tenby, Heywoods of Saundersfoot, Andrew Rees in Narberth and Davies & Son in St Davids. 

As for farm shops, keep an eye out on your travels along the roads as there has been a surge of farms setting up their own farm shops and welcoming shoppers onto their land allowing you to buy direct from the producers. The best thing about these stores is that you can often pick up most of your groceries in one shop.

Four Seasons and Bubbleton Farm Shops are both conveniently located for those visiting Tenby, whilst Steynton Farm Shop is ideal for those staying in Milford. You’ll find Gate 2 Plate in Haverfordwest and a relatively new store in the west at Nolton Farm Shop.

There are also a couple of deli slash greengrocers in the area which are worth calling into - St Davids Food and Wine in St Davids, and Wisebuys which has two stores, one in Narberth and another in Pembroke. Here you’ll find freshly baked bread, locally sourced fruit and veg, Welsh milk and cheeses, plus a whole range of pantry staples like chutneys, cereals and snacks.
