The cottage is approached along an A-road through narrow lanes with no pedestrian walkway. It is set on the main road in Lower Town Fishguard. Public parking space, layby, is located opposite the cottage with space for two vehicles. Single metal gate leads up 5 slate steps to the property entrance. Entrance is approximate 800 mm wide. Garden at the rear of the property. REAR GARDEN IS ACCESSIBLE BY 32 STEEP STEPS AND IS THUS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES OR VERY YOUNG CHILDREN. (with a new handrail on the cottage side of the property – the handrail on the neighbouring property’s side of the steps is dilapidated) to a rear garden overlooking the property. Vertical drop from garden on to ground level of the house cordoned off by a wooden fence. Care needs to be taken in the garden as it would not be safe to leave small children up there unsupervised. Care needed as steps up to terrace garden are uneven and unfenced drops. Garden is sloped and includes a decking area with 2 steps onto it. Ground floor facilities include a sitting room, dining room, shower room with whb/wc and walk in shower, as well as a kitchen, with 1 large step down approx 12" deep into kitchen area, so care is necessary when stepping down into the kitchen and if you are more than 5' 6" it's advisable to lower your head when going through the doorway into the kitchen. Ground floor shower room is accessed by a door approximately 800mm wide. Shower door extends to a width of approximately 800 mm. Well-lit sitting room includes two single armchairs, corner sofa and a TV with remote control and built in DVD player. Kitchen includes extensive work services and a low electric oven. First aid kit is located in the kitchen. Stairway with stairs leads to first floor. First floor facilities include two double bedrooms, one single bedroom and one bathroom with whb/wc and a bath with a shower head attached. First floor bathroom is accessed by a door approximately 800 mm wide. External lighting on the front of the property can be manually turned on when required. Public transport (bus stop) is located approximate 100 metres away from property along the road. Guide dogs welcome.
We liked the area and the price was good, nice location, comfy beds, TV/Sofa in dining area is large enough with 1 TV between.
Great location, central to the places we wanted to visit and had everything we needed. Thank you!
We stayed at this delightful cottage, 15 Newport Road, Fishguard between the 8th and 15th May. On arrival it was lovely and warm and the lights had been left on to welcome us. This very old cottage is remarkably spacious with a large kitchen. The description was accurate on all counts, information about the steps inside down to the kitchen, outside, the road, the layby, the amount of steps up to the garden, Everything you could possibly require was there, including what we really enjoyed, a record player in the dining room along with a selection of great records. As the weather turned midweek, we did light the log burner too, and it was very cosy. We would certainly recommend this holiday cottage and the views were such a bonus and worth the climb up to the garden, although you still have a splendid view of the harbour from the cottage itself. Thank you and regards: Paul and Julia
