Holiday Cottages with EV Charging

Charging your Electric Car in Pembrokeshire

Holiday Cottages with EV Charging

Pembrokeshire is currently Number 1 in Wales for electric vehicle charging points.

If you’re planning on holidaying in West Wales with an electric vehicle, we have a range of self-catering cottages dotted around the county to choose from that offer the convenience of dedicated electric vehicle chargers. This is a real benefit and gives peace of mind when travelling, making your holiday that bit more convenient. You can sleep soundly knowing your car will be charged and ready for the next day's adventures.

Penwern Fach Cottages in Cenarth

Communal electric vehicle charging point.

Penwern Fach Cottages in Cenarth are a group of six charming cottages converted from original stone farm buildings set on rolling Welsh countryside, just outside the beautiful Cenarth Falls. Approached by a short country lane, you’ll notice how beautifully presented the cottages are with great attention to detail.

Each of the cottages shares access to extensive communal space and facilities. This includes a children’s playground with outdoor games, a games room for rainy days, a BBQ area, a laundry room, a football field, a seasonal golf driving range and a dog walking area for your four-legged friends. There is also a communal electric vehicle charging point in the main parking area.

If you are out and about exploring the surrounding area and you notice the car is running low on charge, there’s a Pod Point Charging Station in Newcastle Emlyn only a 6-minute drive away. Alternatively, further afield there are 3 charging points in Cardigan.

On the outskirts of St Davids near Whitesands, there lies a scenic stone cottage named Drws Gobaith-West. Set down a lane in the heart of the Dowrog Common Nature Reserve, a SSSI (Site of Specific Scientific Interest) area, renowned for its rare flora and fauna.

Even though Drws Gobaith-West may seem incredibly secluded being set within the rolling Welsh countryside, luckily for the environmentally conscious there is an EV charging point at the property. It should be noted that the EV charger is not universal and is therefore not for Teslas - so you will need to bring your own charging cable.

The Old Dairy, near Mathry

The cottage is in a lovely rural setting giving the impression of being off the beaten track but actually with good access to all of the places a traveller might want to visit in Wales’s far west.

The Old Dairy is best for those who want to explore the county and equally if the objective is a quiet restful holiday with a few countryside walks while the car has a rest as well. The parking spot right outside the door features a car charging point. It is a tethered version so it may be worth checking that the fitting is correct for your car.

West Barn, in Lochvane near Solva

7KW untethered electric vehicle charging point.

For a truly delightful coastal getaway with your dogs, book a stay at West Barn. Nestled in the peaceful hamlet of Lochvane where you’ll find only six cottages in total, this fabulous five-star property offers a slice of luxury with charming rural views.

West Barn is only a scenic walk from its nearest beach which is Porthmynawyd, or Pointz Castle Beach as it’s better known. Follow tracks through farmland to reach the Coast Path and you’ll discover one of Pembrokeshire’s best-hidden beaches, less than a mile from your holiday property.

After filling your days with various dog walks in the area, return home for relaxing evenings at West Barn to charge the car. The owners of the property ask for £15 per charge to be left in the honesty box.

Lions Head, in Broad Haven

Easee 7.4KW electric vehicle charger.

Embrace that holiday feeling with a little extra extravagance and choose to stay at Lions Head in Broad Haven. Located in a peaceful cul-de-sac above a beloved seaside destination, this contemporary holiday property is a top choice for families in need of some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Lions Head in Broad Haven

Ramblers can pick up the Pembrokeshire Coast Path here, venturing past Little Haven towards St Brides or through Nolton towards Newgale in the opposite direction.

It should be noted there is no cable included with the charging point at the property so you will have to bring your own. The charger is universal and supports all types of electric vehicles. If for any reason the charger at Lions Head fails, conveniently there is also a GeniePoint Charging Station in the Broad Haven main car park.

2 Chapel Bay, in Angle

2 Chapel Bay is set in an elevated position atop the cliffs in Angle. This Grade II listed building dates back to the Victorian era and is pleasantly concealed from the hustle and bustle of the popular beach via an unmade road.

2 Chapel Bay in Angle

This property is located alongside the Coast Path meaning you can head out for a day of rambling while the car charges up at the property. Your starting point here offers views across the estuary towards Herbrandston; taking the trail to the right brings you to Pembroke Dock with views towards Milford Haven and Gelliswick, whilst hiking to the left will take you around the headland with views over St Anns Head and towards the Castlemartin Firing Range.

Angle is located on the far West Coast of Pembrokeshire and is very secluded with the nearest town being a 20-minute drive away. So if you’re running low on juice when travelling to the cottage, there are multiple stops on the way including a GeniePoint Charging Station in Pembroke at the Parade Car Park and the Hyundai Charging Station on the main road of Kilgetty.
